Our fleet is purpose-built for lumber transport. Every vehicle is equipped with the tie-downs, protective materials, and loading equipment needed to move reclaimed wood safely and efficiently.
Our primary long-haul transport. Ideal for full loads of dimensional lumber, beams up to 40 feet, and large salvage pickups. Coil packs and edge protectors included. Capable of carrying approximately 16,000–20,000 board feet per load depending on material dimensions.
Enclosed transport for finished products, furniture-grade lumber, and weather-sensitive deliveries. The liftgate allows deliveries to sites without forklift access. Capacity: approximately 4,000–6,000 board feet of dimensioned stock.
Our workhorse for local deliveries and smaller pickups within the Hampton Roads area. Maneuverable enough for residential driveways and tight construction sites. Perfect for orders of 500–3,000 board feet.
Used for site assessments, small salvage pickups, and rush deliveries of under 1,000 board feet. Also serves as our advance vehicle for large salvage operations, bringing tools and crew to the site before the flatbed arrives.
Stationed at our Virginia Beach yard for loading and unloading trucks, organizing inventory, and handling heavy timbers. Fork extensions accommodate wide lumber bundles. Available for on-site delivery assistance within 30 miles of our yard.
For salvage operations where material must be lifted from upper floors, over obstacles, or out of hard-to-reach locations. Also used for placing heavy beams at delivery sites when indoor crane access is unavailable. Eliminates the need for a separate crane rental on most projects.
Reclaimed lumber is irreplaceable — if a 150-year-old chestnut beam is damaged in transit, there is no replacement waiting at the mill. We take packaging and protection seriously because the materials we transport cannot simply be reordered.
Every layer of stacked lumber is separated by 3/4" x 1.5" kiln-dried stickers placed every 24 inches along the length. This prevents face-to-face contact between boards (which causes moisture trapping and staining), allows airflow to maintain consistent moisture content during transit, and prevents boards from shifting under load. For premium-grade material, we use waxed stickers to eliminate any possibility of sticker stain.
Lumber bundles are secured with high-tensile polyester strapping (1,100 lb break strength) at 4-foot intervals. Strap placement is over cardboard edge protectors to prevent the straps from digging into the wood and leaving compression marks. Heavy beams are individually secured with 2" ratchet straps rated to 3,300 lbs working load limit. All loads comply with FMCSA securement regulations (49 CFR 393) requiring a minimum of one tie-down per 10 feet of cargo.
Finished lumber and kiln-dried stock is wrapped in 6-mil polyethylene sheeting to protect against rain, road spray, and humidity changes during transport. Wrap is secured with tape and strapping, with ventilation slits cut every 4 feet to prevent condensation buildup inside the wrap. For cross-country shipments or weather-uncertain deliveries, we offer full shrink-wrapping that creates a sealed, waterproof package.
Hardboard corner protectors are placed on all exposed edges and corners of lumber bundles. End sealer (Anchorseal or equivalent) is applied to freshly cut end-grain surfaces before shipping to prevent checking caused by rapid moisture loss during transit. For architectural-grade beams and high-value individual pieces, we wrap ends in foam padding and secure with tape.
Loads are built bottom-heavy with the densest, heaviest material on the deck and lighter stock on top. Weight distribution is balanced side-to-side and front-to-back to maintain vehicle stability. Maximum stack height on flatbeds is 8 feet 6 inches (legal limit). Our drivers verify load balance with axle weight calculations before departing and carry portable scales for roadside verification.
We coordinate logistics to match your project timeline. Here's how scheduling works from initial request to final delivery.
Contact us by phone, email, or through our website form. Provide the delivery address, material description, approximate weight/volume, required delivery date, and any site access restrictions (narrow roads, low bridges, no forklift). The more detail you provide upfront, the smoother the scheduling process.
Within one business day, we confirm your delivery window (typically a 4-hour block: morning 7AM–11AM or afternoon 12PM–4PM). You'll receive a confirmation email with the estimated arrival time, driver's name, and our dispatch phone number for day-of communication.
Our driver will call 30–60 minutes before arrival. If site conditions change (gate codes, staging area moves, forklift availability), let us know that morning. We can accommodate last-minute adjustments within reason.
Driver delivers to the designated staging area, offloads using our equipment or yours, and collects a signed delivery receipt. You or your site representative inspect the material at time of delivery. Any damage claims must be noted on the delivery receipt.

We carry comprehensive insurance on every load we transport. Whether we're hauling $2,000 worth of barn siding or $80,000 in American chestnut beams, your material is fully covered from the moment it's on our truck.
Every shipment is covered by our cargo insurance policy with a per-load limit of $250,000. This covers damage from accidents, rollovers, fire, and theft during transit. Coverage is effective from the moment material is loaded onto our vehicle until it is offloaded at the destination. For loads valued above $250,000, additional coverage can be arranged through our broker with 48 hours' notice.
We carry $2,000,000 in commercial general liability coverage that protects against property damage and bodily injury caused during loading, transport, and unloading operations. If our forklift damages your driveway, our truck clips a gate, or any property is harmed during the delivery process, our policy covers the repair or replacement cost.
All of our drivers and loading crew are covered by workers' compensation insurance as required by Virginia law. This means if a member of our team is injured during a pickup or delivery at your property, you face zero liability. We carry our own coverage so you never have to worry about an injury claim from our personnel.
If material arrives damaged, note it on the delivery receipt before signing. Photograph the damage and email our dispatch within 24 hours. We process claims within 10 business days. For minor damage (cosmetic scuffs, small dings), we typically offer a credit or replacement material. For significant damage (broken beams, crushed bundles), our cargo insurer covers the declared value of the material at the time of shipping.
Standard lumber transport is straightforward. But reclaimed materials often require special handling due to their size, fragility, historical significance, or site access limitations.
Beams longer than 40 feet, timber trusses, and full-length barn rafters require special transport permits, pilot cars, and route planning to avoid low bridges and tight turns. We handle the permitting process with VDOT and coordinate with escort services for loads exceeding 8'6" wide or 13'6" tall. Our longest single-piece transport to date was a 62-foot heart pine ridge beam from a church in Petersburg — it required a rear steer trailer and two escort vehicles, but it arrived intact and is now the centerpiece of a timber-frame home in Chesapeake.
Antique doors with original glass, hand-carved mantels, ornamental trim, and thin-sawn veneer boards require individual wrapping and custom crating. We use closed-cell foam sheets, moving blankets, and custom-built plywood crates for high-value architectural salvage. Each piece is immobilized within its packaging to prevent shifting during transit. For irreplaceable items, we offer white-glove delivery where our crew hand-carries pieces from the truck to the final placement location inside the building.
Timber elements being relocated for historic preservation projects often come with documentation requirements, chain-of-custody tracking, and specific handling protocols dictated by the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) or the project architect. We are experienced with these requirements and maintain detailed transport logs including: origin location, load date and time, ambient temperature and humidity, route taken, delivery date and time, and photographic documentation of condition at loading and unloading. We have transported materials for projects listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Many salvage sites and delivery destinations present access challenges: narrow country lanes, low-clearance railroad underpasses, weight-restricted bridges, steep grades, unpaved roads, and residential streets with no room for a full-size flatbed. We pre-survey delivery routes using satellite imagery and, when needed, send an advance vehicle to physically verify clearances. For sites that cannot accommodate our flatbed, we transfer material to our smaller stake body truck or utility trailer at a staging point and shuttle loads to the final destination.
Our delivery pricing is based on three factors: distance from our Virginia Beach yard, vehicle type required, and any special handling needs. Use these general ranges to estimate your delivery cost — then contact us for an exact flat-rate quote.
